The supporter survey launched in Dec 2022 included prize-led giving as ways supporters might be interested in giving to Tommy’s. Lotteries and raffles were in the top 5 of responses.

Several respondents also mention lottery in the free text section when asked about other ideas for ways to engage with Tommy’s and support the cause.

Lotteries are an important way in which supporters and potential supporters can give a gift to a cause and have a chance of winning a prize. This form of fundraising is also conducted primarily via direct debit, offering an opportunity for Tommy’s to grow our supporter base in the long term.

This new product is part of Tommy’s wider fundraising strategy to grow regular giving, a vital sustainable income stream for charities. It’s also a great way to promote a regular giving ask which is fun and can be shared with both our engaged supporters and audiences not yet engaged in our work.

Yes, you can have up to 20 entries per each weekly draw.

Each £1 entry buys you one “chance” of winning in our lottery.

No. Every entry into the draw is automatically allocated a unique lottery number. The odds of winning are fair and equal for every number. Once a number is allocated to a player it cannot be allocated again to another player.

The monthly cost breakdown of £4.34 for playing the lottery is based on paying £1 per week over a 52 week year.

Direct Debits are only collected once a month, and sometimes there will be five weeks in a month and so the additional 34p required is to build up enough credit to cover the fifth week on these five-week months.

Unfortunately payments for lottery entries are not eligible for Gift Aid.
